A brief history of G. Simmons & Sons.

Graham, the founder of the company, started his working life as a butcher, working for a butcher who produced all typed of foods including sausage, pressed meats and of course Pork Scratchings.

Eventually he took over the shop and continued to butcher producing pork scratchings at a cook room at the back of the shop. In the late 1970's he came second in a Pork Scratching competition, the winner was a customer who bought his scratchings from Graham and packed them in his own name. When his sons Shaun and Mark joined the firm it was soon obvious to all that the future lay in pork scratchings. In 1993 the butchers shop was closed and pork scratchings and pork crunch was produced full time.

In 1995 a unit was designed and built in Walsall with the sole purpose of producing scratchings. G. Simmons & Sons were one of the first food manufactures in Walsall to receive an EEC licence. From then on they have gone from strength to strength. With Shaun's son and wife joining the company it is a real family business with one aim, to produce the best Pork Scratchings and Pork Crunch they can.
